Coco

We are sorry to have to inform all our guests that we had to have Coco put to sleep on Wednesday 20th July Coco was under the impression that every guest who arrived had come primarily to see her, and thankfully most of you were only too happy to encourage that illusion She reserved a special place in her affections for those of you who couldn’t manage to eat all of your breakfast, which is typical of a labrador.

Bulfinches

A lovely sight from the conservatory/breakfast room of a beautiful male bullfinch feeding one of it’s young.

We still have some availability towards the end of July if you are looking for a peaceful relaxing break.

The wildflower meadow

The wild flower meadow will soon be at its best, there are over 20 flowering species in bloom at the moment. The bumble bees and butterflies are really enjoying it at the moment.

Our new rescued ex-battery hens

Our new group of hens arrived last weekend and what a strange experience it must be after 14 months in a battery cage.
Within a few days they were roaming the field, scratching for grubs, exploring the hedgerow and eating natural food. We believe happy hens lay better eggs and our guests definately agree.

End of the season

Summer holidays are finally over and what a busy couple of months we have had at Ashfield House.
Thanks to everyone who visited during the summer and especially those of you who left such wonderful comments in our visitor book and on Trip Advisor. We hope to see you again in future.
To anyone thinking of visiting we still have limited availabillity for September, when hopefully we will still get some nice weather.

Pickering 60s festival

All the 60s festival committee members are now recovering from the stress of putting on a great event this year. The weather was fantastic, everybody loved the 6os vehicles and the bands went down a storm. We will all need a month before we think seriously about plans for next year.
